Second Chance
Second Chance is a project under the Community Impact branch. It is a workshop program that is designed to teach adults the fundamentals of financial management. On March 12th, Second Chance went into the Christian Center Rescue Mission (CCRM) to work with adult males willing to learn. This first workshop covered the basics of planning, setting goals, and budgeting. At the end of the session, it was apparent that this material was very needed, but some of the men seemed at times to have more debt or expenses then income. Yes, budgeting is fundamental to stable finances, but if you do not have the skills to go out and make an income then budgeting does not seem practical to help your current position. So, we opened up the last part of the workshop to hear what really would be beneficial for these men. In almost all of the men's goals was the desire to obtain a college education. These men desire to learn how to get the funding need to pay for college and get the skills needed to succeed. This is where SIFE is made great. We have projects that are able to change and adapt to the needs of those we wish and do impact. Our next workshop will be completely devoted to the steps and resources needed to secure college funding.
